Here's the issue in a nutshell...ASUU (Associated Students of the University of Utah) decided to have a forum titled "Banned at BYU". The basic theme was about academic freedom with speeches from former faculty member from BYU that have been "let go" from BYU because of their opposing views. I am sure high fives were given around the table at ASUU as they realized what a great BYU bashing idea this was. And then the reality of the decision was brought up...."What if the legislature doesn't like us bashing BYU and they don't give us funding for our new fitness center!?!?!" AHAHAHAHAHAAAA!!!! At that point they all ran screaming in horror by the fact that they almost offended "Big Brother's" pocket book. Full article

The way I see it...if you have an opinion about one organization and you feel that you want to hold a forum bashing their decisions and values then do it. If that is what you believe in and you feel it will make the world a better place. Instead ASUU has been brought to their knees by the legislature and they have the power to control ASUU's every move. It just seems spineless to me. And people wonder where all these money motivated politicians come from.
