Frat Boys Mamma's Boys

The frat boys at the U are getting worked up over themselves. There were a number of articles in the paper this week written by the frat boys telling every one what a fluffy twinkie they are. I had to answer back with a little cartoon. Unfortunately they haven't fired back yet.

Spineless

Here's the issue in a nutshell...ASUU (Associated Students of the University of Utah) decided to have a forum titled "Banned at BYU". The basic theme was about academic freedom with speeches from former faculty member from BYU that have been "let go" from BYU because of their opposing views. I am sure high fives were given around the table at ASUU as they realized what a great BYU bashing idea this was. And then the reality of the decision was brought up...."What if the legislature doesn't like us bashing BYU and they don't give us funding for our new fitness center!?!?!" AHAHAHAHAHAAAA!!!! At that point they all ran screaming in horror by the fact that they almost offended "Big Brother's" pocket book. Full article here.

The way I see it...if you have an opinion about one organization and you feel that you want to hold a forum bashing their decisions and values then do it. If that is what you believe in and you feel it will make the world a better place. Instead ASUU has been brought to their knees by the legislature and they have the power to control ASUU's every move. It just seems spineless to me. And people wonder where all these money motivated politicians come from.

Guns and Roses....and Textbooks

There is nothing better than a "non-issue" in the news. People arguing about problems that don't even exist. Recently Utah Attorney General stated that the University of Utah's policy of no guns on campus isn't in harmony with state law. Oooooookay.....I guess it was a slow day and he needed to find something to do. So now the President of the University is putting up a fight because he doesn't want guns on campus and he wants his policy in place. Here's the deal...if some crazy wacko wants to bring a gun on campus for intimidation or for reason I don't want to think of, he isn't going to look up the schools policy on guns. THE WACKO IS GOING TO DO WHAT THE WACKOS IN HIS HEAD TELL HIM TO DO!!!! So whether the policy stays or goes nothing will change. Well...I better go clean my riffle now.
