Wedding Art
This is my cousin Lauren and her new husband Jay D
They recently got married and had asked me to do a caricature of them for their big day. It was a pretty big picture so I had to just take a picture of it with my cheap camera. It didn't come out as clear as I had hoped.I am looking to get my portfolio built up of caricatures like this, so if any of you faithful blog readers would like me to do a character like this of you or a loved one email me a picture and I'll do it free of charge.

Cartoon Contest....Third time's the charm!!!
The last two years I have entered this cartoon contest for studentaffairs.com. For some reason my fall-on-the-floor-peeing-my-pants humor has not translated very well to the judges. I know...I can't believe it either.
So this year, I DECLARE TO MY FANS (all two of 'em...thanks mom!) THAT I WILL BRING HOME THE GOLD!!!!
But I need your help (again...all two of you). Here is the the guidelines that were given in order to participate in this contest:
So basically it has to be about college life and technology....oh and it has to be really really funny. So geniuses let's put our brains together and give me your best ideas. (Go here to see last years winners, if that will help.)
As you can see if I win gold I get $400!!!! If I use your idea to get me that gold guess what!?!?!?! Pfffffffff....No I am not going to share it with you. But I will take you to lunch or something.
And no, this is not an optional request. If you read this you must submit some sort of idea under "comments". Don't even think about moving on from this site until you do so.
Thanks!!!!.......NOW SUBMIT AN IDEA!!!!

HARLINE IS STILL....I mean...RIVALRY WEEK IS COMING!!!
My editor at the Chroni called me this weekend and told me that I needed to get two cartoons together about the rivalry week, poking fun at BYU. She has no idea I am FULLY INVESTED with a team down south, but I still tried to look through the eyes of a Yewt and come up with some cartoons. This is what i came up with.

Families Are Forever
The recent passing of Anna Nicole Smith was quite shocking. Luckily I have no emotion attached to the woman. I'm surprised to see all the media coverage she gets. I can't really think of anything in the world that she did....let alone anything in the world that she did for GOOD. She married a wrinkly old man for his billions. Yeah yeah yeah...it was true love. Right. It makes me wonder how the confrontation in the after-life is going between her and her late husband. Maybe he doesn't look as wrinkly anymore. The bad news for Anna is, he wasn't able to take his money with him.

National Rubberband Rifle Association
Over the past few months there has been a cat fight going on between the legislature and President Young of the University of Utah. There have been a handful of articles addressing the issue as to whether to allow hang guns on campus or not. To tell you the truth, I have tried to form an opinion on the whole subject but I don't really feel pulled in any direction. Maybe a few of you should leave your opinion here and help me form an opinion.

Yes Virginia....he did catch it
When the Utes showed up on Saturday with the best game of their season (I admit) it put a little doubt in me. I thought this was last year all over again. They had the cougs figured out. They marched the defense right down the field and scored with style. Long passes went for touchdowns, punters scored first downs. I slowly prepared myself for a Ute victory. Then it happened...the off-balanced cross over throw to put this one in the history books. How sweet is victory on a last second, game ended touchdown pass?
VERY VERY SWEET!!!!!
VERY VERY SWEET!!!!!

Rivalry Week
Every time that you are given an opportunity to stuff your face full of yams and turkey should be celebrated. Thursday is a pretty big day, and I won't eat a thing until then. BUT, this year's Thanksgiving dessert comes after the banana cream pie and pumpkin roll......nothing is sweeter than the BYU/UTAH rivalry game.
Everything is out the window...the records, the stats, the confidence. Up to this point nothing from the past matters because anything can happen on rivalry week. BYU best be putting that trophy on the shelf and forget about it because I want my banana cream pie with a little BYU victory on top.

Cartoon Contest Entries
Every year Studentaffairs.com has a cartoon contest for college students around the country. I heard about this two years ago when someone from the U won it. When I saw him win it I told myself I would someday win it. Last year I entered and was sadly disappointed when I didn't even finish in the top four. But this year, thanks to the help of performance enhancing drugs I will bring home the gold. I get $400 if I take first, and no you are not getting a cut. There are a few rules to enter the contest. One of the rules is that it has to be about technology and student life. The second one you might not understand if you don't frequent myspace.com often. I don't, but my wife does. I sometimes get disappointed in these contests because a lot of the time the cartoons are only funny in my head. So....wish me luck.

Different Shovel - Same Crap
The democrats recently took over the majority of Washington. On TV they all look like Chubby on free hostess day....smiling from ear to ear thinking the world is finally better again. I don't think anybody is going to love politicians any more than they did before. They'll make different mistakes that get us just as irritated and then we'll put in the other clowns again. It's a vicious cycle.
